I was motivated to make some DIY beauty products when I was recently reading the ingredients in some of the products I’ve been using. I saw a lot of scary, harsh chemicals that can’t be good for your skin. I decided there must be something better so I did some research.
I decided to try my hand at making a super easy foaming facewash. It has the most lovely combination of essential oils. This face wash has a combination of lavender, rosemary and frankincense, combined with jojoba oil and Castile baby soap. These essential oils are known for clearing up the skin. I was amazed to read all of the benefits that have for the skin. I wish I would have discovered them earlier, better late than never.
Frankincense essential oil is a powerful astringent, meaning it helps protect skincells. It can be used to help reduce acne blemishes, the appearance of large pores, prevent wrinkles, and it even helps lift and tighten skin to naturally slow signs of aging.
The nutrients of rosemary can help protect skin cells from damage often caused by the sun and free radicals. Lavender oil helps reduce redness, blotchy patches, and acne scarring. Lavender oil’s anti-inflammatory properties make it great for soothing and healing skin that’s irritated or reddened from the sun, insect bites, or bacteria.
Jojoba oil has anti-inflammatory properties which help to tame chaffing and chapping, reduce redness caused by drying, ease the effects of eczema and rosacea, and keep skin calm and comfortable. The Vitamin E and B-complex vitamins in the Jojoba oil help in skin repair and damage control.
Castile soap naturally possesses antibacterial properties. Just like it’s perfect to use on skin that suffers from eczema, it’s also good for people who suffer from psoriasis or acne. The soap contains natural antibacterial properties that will help kill the bacteria that causes acne …
I was able to find the foaming pump bottles at the dollar store but you can also order them online on sites like Amazon. I found the cute stick on letters at the dollar store as well
I can’t wait to try it out myself. The ingredients such as the essential oils are relatively inexpensive when you think about how many bottles of face wash you can make with the ingredients. I was able to get all of the ingredients at my local grocery store and they were even on sale!
The next product I made was Lavender linen spray. I absolutely love it! I’ve received some as a gift and it really do help for a restful sleep. Just spray it on your pillowcase or duvet or even in the air. When I discovered how it as to make I wasted no time making it.
Researchers have monitored sleep cycles with brain scans and found that lavender increased slow-wave sleep, instrumental for slowing heartbeat and relaxing muscles. … Lavender essential oil offers calming and soothing properties that can help reduce stress.
I paired these two lovely DIY products with a few store bought items including bath bombs, charcoal infused washing puffs, hair turban and shower caps. I also plan on adding some essential oils to some Epsom salts in some pretty jars with ribbon.
I arranged all of these items in a cute wire basket which will be perfect for storing in the bathroom. I hope this post motivates you to try making your own beauty products! Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas 🎄
