My Review of Monat hair products

modat3.JPGHi Everyone

I have been meaning to blog about this in quite a long time after a fellow Instagrammer, Pam (pamalovely)  was kind enough to send me some products for me to try.

I have to say, I have never thought I had nice hair.  It tends to be thin and fine and barely holds a curl.  Many of you know that over the last several years I have let my hair go completely grey.  I feel my hair is healthier as a whole but feels coarse sometimes.

I was pleasantly surprised by these products.  I used the Renew Shampoo and Revitalize conditioner.   I love the fresh citrus scent.  I have very hard water in my area so I was grateful for Pamela letting me know that I only needed a small amount added to very wet hair.  It did lather quite well despite using a very small dime sized amount.

When I started using these products, I hadn’t had my hair cut in a long time so I felt my hair was dry and flyaway.  I noticed right away after using it that my hair was nicely smooth.
I haven’t worn my hair straight in ages and I was pleasantly surprised one day after using the blow-out cream my hair felt very smooth and shiny

Sometimes I find that grey hair can look dull and I noticed that my natural highlights seemed to be brought out using these products.  I also strangely felt like I had more hair.  Like I said, I have had thin, fine hair my whole life so this was a new and exciting feeling for me.

My favorite product by far is the blow-out cream.  I worked it into my slightly damp shampooed hair and the pleasant citrus scent is amazing.  I find it gives my hair so much body and shine.  I feel like it is protecting my hair from the heat damage so I don’t feel as guilty blow-drying everyday.    I also used the hairspray as well and again the lovely scent and the soft hold was great.

I found I was wearing my hair back so much because I didn’t like what it looked like straight so here is a before picture of my hair for your reference

I feel my hair looks thinner in the above picture in comparison.   The great thing also is my hair also seems to hold a curl much better too which I love.  The blow-out cream is perfect for days I also want to curl it.

On the whole I would definitely recommend the Monat products as they definitely added body and shine to my thin and fine hair.

Thrifting a Fall Capsule Wardrobe for $50

Hi everyone! I hope everyone had a great summer! It’s that time again! Pumpkin 🎃 spice, blanket scarf, boots and sweater weather! I guess I’m not overly original when I say that I love fall and cooler weather.  The truth of the matter is that I don’t really have much choice  given the climate I live in western Canada pretty much dictates that. We’re barely out of August  and the leaves 🍁🍂 have already started changing! Wow 😮 you say! Here’s the proof!

So anyone who knows me knows that I am a huge thrifter and a big bargain shopper. I pride myself in putting together stylish outfits on a budget. There is really no other way I could possibly afford all the clothes and shoes I own if I wasn’t budget conscious.

That being said I’ve always thought that more is more rather than less is more. However, I have to say since downsizing to less closet space this year,  I’ve shifted my mindset considerably.  I recently purged my closet and donated 13 massive bags of clothing and shoes. Once the dust settled I realized that what I had left were pieces that worked together.  I can’t say I thought of this idea 💡 but I realized that I definately could create a capsule wardrobe or several capsule wardrobes with what I had left! 👢👗👚👕👖

What is a capsule wardrobe you ask? By definition it’s a grouping of clothing and accessories in a certain colour scheme. This would typically involve choosing one or two base colours that go with everything, such as black, white, brown, grey, or navy. Items such as pants, tops, skirts that would be bought in shades of these colours, so that they can be put with anything else in the wardrobe. After choosing the base colours, choose one or two accent colours, which are brighter than the base colours, and co-ordinate with each other. These would typically be used for items such as tops, skirts , or accessories; once a colour scheme is established, all the items in a wardrobe should be interchangeable, as the colour of the pieces always coordinate.

So I’ll show you what I used to create my capsule wardrobe. I have 10 pieces of clothing. What you choose could vary depending on your personal style and climate  I chose 10 mix and match pieces which  include:

1 pair of jeans, I pair of leggings, 1 pencil skirt, 1 printed  top, 1 sweater, 1 leather jacket, 1 light coloured jacket, 1 pair of booties, 1 pair of knee high boots and 1 blanket scarf for a total of 10 pieces and I only paid $50 for all of it! I shopped on sale days at my favourite thrift store and was able to get everything you see here!❤️

You by no means have to shop for these exact pieces for your capsule wardrobe. Shop the colours and styles you like!! For example if you’re not a fan of red, substitute it for some other colour you like. Or maybe you’d prefer black boots instead of brown or maybe you hate plaid and you’d prefer polkadots, the choice is yours !

So basically you can see that everthing I choose coordinates . In this capsule wardrobe I have black, cream, brown, burgundy. I could have easily added one more colour but this was how it worked out.  It’s amazing that these 10 pieces can create an infinite number of possibilities on how to style these pieces. Here’s a few below. These are by no means all the looks you can create by changing which top, bottom or footwear you can get many different looks!

So as you can see it’s kind of a no brainer, you can literally get dressed in the dark and you’ll still look great! Lol 😂
